Introduction

Education is the cornerstone of national development, shaping the future of individuals and societies. Yet, in Sierra Leone, the education system faces challenges that hinder the empowerment of our youth and the progress of our nation.

My name is Brima Bob Deen. I was born and raised in the Southern part of Sierra Leone, specifically in Kori Chiefdom in Moyamba District—between Taiama and Njala-Makonde. My personal journey through education reflects both the struggles and the resilience inherent in our system. Today, as a PhD student in Education Leadership, I am researching the transformation of Sierra Leone’s education system. Through this blog, I aim to share research-based insights and my own experiences, engage with educators, policymakers, and stakeholders, and spark discussions that lead to meaningful change.
